Friends For Life and Healing Species Texas are bringing the nationally successful Barkitecture art event to Houston. Celebrity Barkitecture invites architects, architectural firms, contractors, interior designers, community creative talents and celebrities to design and construct unique and whimsical indoor or outdoor dog or cat abodes.
Celebrity Barkitecture is a national event held in many cities across the U.S. It has produced some of the most incredible, most creative and whimsical designs ranging from the modern “Frank Lloyd Bite” to the fabulous recreations of city icons such as “The Master’s Clubhouse”.
The structures will be displayed at venues throughout Houston and Montgomery County beginning in November and culminating in the exciting live/silent auction at the Friends For Life “An Evening of Art for the Animals” gala event May 13, 2010 at the River Oaks Country Club.
The proceeds from the auction of the structures will benefit the animals served by the No Kill programs of Friends for Life and the humane education programs of Healing Species Texas.

Healing Species Texas is an award winning character education / violence intervention program. Each week, an instructor visits the school with the assistance of a rescued dog to teach children a process to overcome abuse, rise above their situation and practice being important.
